KEETCH DELIGHTED WITH ACADEMIES ANNOUNCEMENT

Paul Keetch, Lib Dem MP for Hereford, was advised personally by The Lord Adonis of the Department for Children, Schools and Families, that funding has been secured for the development of two new Academies in his constituency. The first is to be built on the site of the Waldorf Steiner School, Much Dewchurch, and will be known as the Hereford Steiner Academy. The second replaces Wyebridge Sports College, formerly Haywood High School, and will be known as the Hereford Academy.

"This announcement is indeed great news," said Mr Keetch. "The two Academies offer alternative types of education and yet are complementary to each other.

"The Steiner Academy is a flagship - I have been associated with its establishment for many years - and I am proud to have it located in my constituency, attracting further interest to our area. It will specialise in the Natural Environment and will add to the diversity of provision in the county.

"The Hereford Academy will specialise in Science, Health and Sport - another exciting opportunity for the young people of Herefordshire. I wish both Academies the very best for their futures."

Mr Keetch added, "As MP it has always been a priority of mine that our children should obtain the highest standards of education we have grown to expect in our county that our dedicated teaching staff tirelessly provide."
